I have been photographing this little angel above since she was a tiny little baby. Her parents were the first to trust in me to take her newborn, 3 month, 6, 9, 1 year and every special occasion photos! I am so grateful that they have asked me and continue to use me for all of their special moments. They are the most amazing people and I have known her mom for years. She has become an even closer friend over the past few years and called me before she told some friends about the possibility of this announcement! I was so excited for her and her family on the possibility of a new baby. I didn’t even think about what she was asking me! Of course like me, because we are very similar, and can’t keep secrets for long…..she said as soon as I get the confirmation from the doctor I want to document and announce this! How cool and fun for me! We talked and planned ideas and she right away, like she always does, got the cutest little shirt for Addy! AW!! Big sister!!! Momma is doing great and due in the fall and even if Addy doesn’t understand quite yet, she will be so excited to have a little sister or brother! I love the photos because although we planned what we wanted to do.. Addyson was her usual star self and made the pictures even more adorable!! And then we had to do some cute Valentines and Easter photos of her for mom and dad!!
I have only shot families, kids, birthdays, engagements, babies, weddings, but I”ll try anything. Photography is fun, and it is all about learning and experimenting. When my friend asked me to take some photos of her for her boyfriend for valentines day I said sure! When shooting kids you are lucky to get them to look at you, sit still, smile, let alone worrying about all the dynamics of lighting. I figured she would get some great photos, and I could take a few hours and play around with lights and experiment on my shooting = win win! These were the shots that I was the most proud of! She looked great in all of them, but I am just looking at the angles, lighting etc. These are with permission to post and I thank her for asking me and allowing me to learn. We had fun and I love each new experience I get to do!
I never take high quality photos of my daughter. Two reasons but not good excuses! First is because I always have my Iphone and have over 2k pictures on it maxing out my memory and more on my computer, and 2 because getting the kid ready, preparing for the shoot, being the photographer and mom, at the same time is tough! It took me hours to prep, plan, get her ready, set up at the studio, and then try to shoot technically, get her to pay attention to me and smile. Most would say well she is probably used to you having the camera in her face all the time. Yes and no. She is, but also runs away from me most of the time. Most of my photos I have of her are crazy action shots, but I love every single one because they are candid and really show her goofy self. She is hilarious and I would must rather have her silly faces than a forced smile any day! But I love this attempt at her first “official” photo session! I think she will have many more to come, but I also can’t wait til the weather warms up and we can go outside and I can capture her having fun and doing everything that she loves!! She is becoming a girly princess and wears skirts and crowns everywhere but still loves dirt and worms! 🙂
This is my other little niece! She is such a sweet little baby. Always smiling and happy. It is crazy to see what I still think of as my baby brother with a little girl! Again, being an aunt and sharing parenthood with my brother and sister is just as rewarding as being a mom myself! We planned to do some outdoor family shots at the same spot that they had their engagement pictures taken. It was November in Ohio and I had just returned from Florida the night before, but it was a surprising almost 60 degrees!! We then headed down to the studio and got some great shots of her! She was happy and didn’t mind having her picture taken! One of the easiest shoots I have done! My brother is funny…he wanted to make it look like she was sitting on the rock and peaking out behind the tree all on her own! I love all of the pictures and I always enjoy seeing them made into Christmas cards for everyone to enjoy! I save them all, and have a wall in my house of all of my friends and families kids so I can look at them all year!!
My sister wanted some pictures of her and her daughter, so I met them at a park by my house! It is so amazing to be able to capture such love between a mother and daughter. The smiles are different from any other, the hugs are different, and you can feel every special moment between them. I love being an aunt, it is so different from being a mom. And I love being able to watch and share the joys of motherhood with my sister. She is an amazing mom and I was so glad to be able to capture these images for her.
My best friend asked me to take her engagement pictures. It was such an honor for me! I have known her longer than anyone and I have known her fiance for about 8 years as well. My husband and her fiance grew up together and I invited her to come along to a concert with us one night… and it was history from there!! They are the cutest couple! She is so sweet, and he is funny!! They really do bring out the best in each other. You know it is true love when you can smile in the rain, have fun, and really look into one another’s eyes!! It is the beginning of fall and the weather is already getting chilly. It was drizzling but we set out to a great park by their house. I think the rain and the cool air made the pictures even better!!! They got engaged while they were fishing. He put the ring on the end of the line and she reeled it in! I still can’t believe he cast it out there!!!!!!! I can not wait for their destination wedding next summer!! I hope to photograph there as well and then come back and use the pictures for their reception! I can’t help but smile when I look at these pictures. My beautiful friend is so happy and I could not be happier for her! I hope they enjoy these pictures for years to come and can look back over the years and remember this time!!
I had the pleasure of photographing this family at Edgewater beach last week. I knew I wanted to shoot there because it has so many elements. The water, rocks, trees, the beach and sand. With two kids there are plenty … Continue reading
