Hello 2013

Hi everyone!! 2012 was an amazing year!! I am doing some restructuring and a little bit of formalities as to be able to provide a better experience for you! My goal is to provide something special, high quality, professional, fun, affordable, and something that will leave an impression and last a lifetime!

All sessions (child, family, engagement, maternity, etc) will be one standard price $125 (with the exception of newborns as more time is needed and of course weddings or events) The session price will include some prints (2 8×10 and 3 5×7) and an online private viewing gallery of all images! Session times will be 60-90 min in studio, or can be at an outdoor location!

All clients will receive a welcoming packet explaining all of the details and about me as your photographer! :). I like to get to know my clients and would like you to know about me as well!! I want to make your experience as fun as possible and provide a service that will have you return as a client or to refer me is the best compliment I could ask for!

A $50 Deposit that is applied toward session fee will be required to hold all session dates as well as a signed contract before session!

I feel that there are two different needs to be met with clients. The digital vs print. I have printed images from cvs, Walgreens, and a pro printing lab. I would like to show the differences in printing and show you that it can be done at a reasonable price, but the difference in high quality images is important. You are paying for experience, professionalism and high quality, and images less than that defeat what you are coming to me for. My objective is not to make money off of you, but to provide you with a fun, professional experience with a high quality standard. You can select and purchase through me the quantity of images that you would like. I will not be making a package or rates or a minimum purchase order. I want things that will be affordable and to meet your individual needs. Prices will be a la cart. $2- 4×6 $4 5×7 $8 8×10 $12-11×14. We can also discuss fun options of larger prints, canvases, metal and wood prints, photo books etc! Explore new ideas, and customize photos for your home!!

Cd’s still can be purchased for $100 with all images and a printing release. I like to provide a lot of images and will edit every usable photo from the session. With the digital age we live in if you would like to have the disk for your computer, digital photo frame, facebook or anything else that is great! You can also have the printing release with it being known that I can not be responsible for the quality of the images you print, but you are more than welcome to print with it wherever you would like! :). I would prefer to have my work represented in the best way, and I also want to be able to meet your needs or wishes!! These disks can be great for birthday invitations, birth announcements, calendars, thank you cards, holiday greetings etc!

With all of this I want to express how much I really love what I do! I love meeting new people!! Watching kids laugh and being able to capture that! Seeing a baby grow up before my eyes and camera, and getting to be a part of it every few months!! Seeing their parents faces light up when they see their child’s or families portraits!! I strive to capture the moments and feelings of a couple in love, or have them remember the moment when they look back years from now. I love each experience and moment I get to be a part of! I want to offer more to people and have something that you can’t just find anywhere!

Thanks and hope to see you in 2013!
Shannon

Halloween!!!

I don’t get super excited over Halloween. It really has never been a favorite of mine. But you can’t help but smile with kids in their costumes and their excitement over dressing up and going trick or treating. I wanted to do kids mini photo sessions, so I made a flyer and had some people respond. I figured as a mom we spend money on these costumes that they wear once so why not have a party for them, and promote my business a little too! The party went great we had chili and snacks and cider. The adults played corn hole and the kids ran around my two acres and had fun in the leaves all day. We had monster cupcakes and candy and even face painting! Here are some pics of the costumes!!

Generation Alpha

ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

I wanted a unique title so I looked it up and the generation born in 2010 has created a new name that is being called Generation Alpha!  Hmm.. interesting.  I took these photos because I have wanted to capture my daughter, husband, and his mother for a while!  I figured a shoot and some framed prints was the perfect present for grandparents day ( a few weeks late)!!  My mother in law is such a calm, kind person.  She has been amazing to me over the past almost 9 years, and is incredible with our daughter.  They are like two kids together, you can see the joy in both of them when they are together.  It is so fun to see how she resembles my husband, and his side of the family!  I had fun and tried out some different things with this too!!  When I am with a new client, I am still a little bit nervous to try out extreme light changes, or different styles.  I want to make sure I capture the smiles, and the moment, and don’t want to accidentally overexpose and completely ruin a shot!!  I really like being creative, and trying out new things so I will do it more often!! I am a huge fan of black and white if you can’t tell!!  I have been having such a hard time editing and posting lately.  I always offer my clients both color and black and white prints but how do you choose? The colors are so amazing this fall, but yet black and white just adds such a dynamic element to all of it!!  Can’t wait to print these and I know my daughter’s grandmother is going to love them!!!

The Beauty of Comfort

Sometimes you meet people that you can instantly connect with, get along with, and feel like you have been friends for a long time, this is one of those times!!  I met this family through the publicist that had asked me to photograph an artist.  They were so sweet and down to earth!  Long story short they both went to school with my husband over the years and we knew a lot of the same people… what a small world it really is!  We picked a great spot nearby their home and were able to have the outdoors, yet photograph the little one and his bright, outgoing, big brother with some backdrops and props too!!  I think they all had a great time and we were able to spend a couple of hours just hanging out and capturing their family!!  I felt like I could have hung out with them all day!!  We even found a little Wooly bear at the end of the day that had to go home with them and was named “Happy” as I learned today when I met up with them again!  🙂  It is so easy to photograph when everyone is comfortable, laid back, and enjoys themselves.  Every new session is a new challenge, a new learning experience, and a new inspiration for me!  I take so much from meeting new people and my favorite part of my job is making them have fun, be at ease, and most of all smile when they see the pictures!  It was just the start of fall so we were able to get some great colors and I hope these pictures will help them remember this time in their lives for a long time!!  ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Inspiring Candidness

There is nothing better to me, than photographing a family that has fun!!  This family is amazing!  Each kid has their own amazing personality!!  Fun, energetic, spunky, sweet, helpful, it is so fun to watch, be a part of, experience, and capture!!!!  The parents let their kids be kids, during smiles, pouts, frustrations, and silliness!  It is really inspiring and makes me think how lucky I am to do what I do, and also how fun family really is!   You can feel the love, see the fun, and even though everything isn’t perfect, it really is!!

Love, Photos, and Frames

I love this family!  These are great friends of mine and I love their kids like they are my own!  Mia looks just like her mommy and Dominic like his dad, with blue eyes.  It was a little bit difficult, as I think photographing 4 people at the same time can be!  It is hard to have the parents, a 5 year old, and a 2 1/2 year old all look and smile at you at the same time!  I was a little nervous when I got home that I was not going to be able to produce a lot of shots for them, but I was happy!  I snapped a ton of pictures (prob 150-200) which took me a long time to go through, but I’m glad that I did.  I was able to find at least 50 really good shots for them!!  I had so much fun with them and they are such an amazing family!  The photographs are a little less candid than my typical style, but I have been trying to produce more posed shots, since I feel that is what a lot of families want.  I’m really happy that they liked the pics and I’m sure I will see them on their wall soon!  😉  ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Smiles of Love and Bonds

I can honestly say these are some of the most beautiful pictures that I have taken. Every pictures shows the love of this family. They are so inspiring and beautiful inside and out. The little girls have such different personalities and features of each of their parents. I look at these pictures all the time and how the mom’s smile at her husband or her little girls just warms your heart. I did a couple of traditional family portraits for them, did a few fun family portraits of them, and then just had fun. We walked down the beach and capturing the girls and the family was a blast! I think that they all had a great time, and I try to make it a fun experience for everyone! I love to learn and watch the kids and capture them when they are most natural. I think the shot of the two girls where Maddy is hugging Sammy is my favorite picture I have ever taken. So innocent, and so beautiful! I like to try out a couple of different ideas for each session too, like the feet in the sand, or the girls in focus and the parents in the background. Sometimes my ideas work, sometimes they don’t. Either way, it is fun to try something new!! I have been taking some photography classes, and invested in a new lens and I am really proud of my work. I love to keep learning everyday. I am so happy to have the opportunity to do so with such a beautiful family. I am so happy to be able to share these photos and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

Family Portraits

ImageImageImageImageImage

I saw a girl that I haven’t seen since high school.  I got to meet her amazing husband and her two beautiful boys!  It was so great to see her, and her family is so sweet!  Little James was soo amazing with his baby brother Jack!  So attentive and sweet and wanted to hold him the entire time.  I had so much fun at this shoot!  The family was up for different ideas and we had some gorgeous scenery.  I love this covered bridge and shot here for my very first job, and definitely will be returning.  Right under the bridge is a beautiful part of the metroparks.  A little 5 minute walk down the street are the cutest little shops and a stationary train that any kid would love to climb on!  It was so hot that day in the 90’s but we shot earlier in the day and everyone was a trooper!  I love their bright colors and their smiles just light up every picture.  I am taking some classes and learning some new things about my camera and some different techniques.  I was really happy with the clarity and quality of the pictures..probably for the first time!  I still have a lot to learn and have had three shoots since this and feel like I am improving each day.  I love learning and growing and finding new things everyday inspires me so much!  I also love Pinterest and try to find new creative ideas for shoots.  As I have said before I love candid shots and its hard to plan with kids what is going to happen, but I am trying to have more of a shot list before I approach the shoot.  I usually email some ideas to the parents and find out what they like or don’t like.  It helps them have a feel for the style of photography that I do, and usually inspires them to come up with more ideas for the session too!  It helps me with the flow of the shoot.  A few times I have felt like what should I have them do next?  With a little shot list it helps inspire more ideas for me and so far it has improved things on both ends I think!  I am truly blessed to have shared the day with this family and I hope they love the photos!
