Grace Potter

Grace potter is a must see live! Not only is her music fun and energetic but she lights up a stage! I have only heard a couple of her songs and was expecting a more mellow show… Boy was I wrong! She didn’t stop moving the entire show! (Hard from a photographers standpoint :-). She was so fun to watch and when you are paying to see a concert it is so nice to see an artist that shows she has talent and more importantly she loves what he does! She’s a breath of fresh air between country and rock and put on a great show!!

Wedding Jitters!!!

Wedding jitters…. It wasn’t the bride or groom.. it was me! I have only assisted at one wedding and some great friends of mine asked me if I would come and photograph their special day. They wanted a small ceremony at the Cleveland Botanical Gardens with just their family and a few close friends. A simple ceremony, some pictures throughout the gardens, and a beautiful luncheon after. I said yes without hesitation because I was truly honored that they even asked me to do it! I was extremely nervous though. I am used to photographing kids, babies, families etc. If something were to ever go wrong, I could always redo it. With a wedding it is a one time, one moment, special occasion. What about is something went wrong with my camera? What if one of my lenses wouldn’t work? I started panicking. Then I had to push all of that aside and just went for it. I got there and checked out the beautiful gardens where they would be saying their vows. It was a cloudy day in October, a little chilly but it was too beautiful not to get married outside. I helped the bride get ready and then headed outside to my place. I waited for her father to bring her down the path and photographed the intimate ceremony between them. I then walked through the beautiful gardens with them and took some pictures that I later enlarged and printed on some canvases for them!! My favorite part of photographing anyone, but especially with a couple is to snap a picture of them, and then when they are not looking or paying attention snap again. I love getting the photographs where they are laughing and interacting and truly being who they are. If it were up to me… I would probably hide in the woods and capture pictures that way! I am a little shy and still getting used to telling people how to stand and what to do. I am learning how to handle all situations though and taking a lot from each experience!

Take some time to smell the roses….

I reconnected with a friend from high school. She wanted to update her portfolio, and have some new pics for her blog. I can’t say enough good things about Leah. She’s smart, kind, thoughtful, happy, driven, beautiful on the inside and out. We had a blast shooting downtown in Cleveland. She loves her city, works for the city, and knows a lot of great spots and places. She showed me some cool spots down in Little Italy, even stopped for a wine tasting in between pictures, ate at a great little restaurant, and walked the streets so full of life. We connected so well and she taught me a lot and made me think about things. I took so much from our day… to stop and explore, learn and take the time to enjoy things. To be proud and confident of who you are. I have been struggling between being a mom and starting my own business, and she said something so profound to me…. what I do outside of the house and just being a mom will make my daughter proud. It will show her that you can achieve anything you put your mind to. Even if I have to spend time away from her, it is important to make myself happy and to let her see that! I feel lucky to know Leah and she really puts a smile on everyone’s face that she is around. ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Social Distortion

I have been asked before who my favorite artist has been to photograph. I have always had to think and wasn’t sure. Now I can say thus far it is Social Distortion. Whether it was from the sold out crowd’s excitement behind me or the bands enthusiasm in front of me, it was a rush!! They put on a great show!! In Cleveland they sold out the House of Blues two nights in a row. After a couple of decades they are still going strong!! I love some if the shots I got that night!!

Lindi Ortega

Red boots, red lipstick, guitar, good looks, and a voice to match!  Lindi came out opening for a legend punk rock band Social Distortion at the House of Blues and held her own!  Her catchy lyrics, fun music, confidence, beauty, and talent held the crowds attention from the second she walked out on the stage.  Whether it was to watch her, or want to be her, it was hard to take your eyes off of her!  My favorite of the night was her song “bang bang” and her cover of a Johnny Cash song that made the crowd go nuts!!

Nautical Baby!

I met this cute family through a friend of a friend.  Their little girl had just turned 2 and they wanted some portraits of her and them as a family!  They love water, Kelly’s island, and had a nautical theme for her birthday!  I picked a favorite spot of mine down by the city and Lake Erie.  It has grass and trees, water and sand, boats, and amazing scenery!  It is a great place to hang out with friends and family, and has everything that is great about our city!!  They were such an adorable family and my goal for the day was to make her smile!!  She was shy, which is normal for any little kid at her age, and with a stranger in your face with a camera!!  I think we got some great family shots, and I got to see her smile, as well as capturing the candidness of the day!  ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage

Inspiring Candidness

There is nothing better to me, than photographing a family that has fun!!  This family is amazing!  Each kid has their own amazing personality!!  Fun, energetic, spunky, sweet, helpful, it is so fun to watch, be a part of, experience, and capture!!!!  The parents let their kids be kids, during smiles, pouts, frustrations, and silliness!  It is really inspiring and makes me think how lucky I am to do what I do, and also how fun family really is!   You can feel the love, see the fun, and even though everything isn’t perfect, it really is!!

Baby, Browns, and Beauty!

Oh my little Addison!  Love her!!  I have been photographing this little munchkin since she was born!  It has been amazing to watch her grow!!  Her mom has such great ideas, and wanted to do a Cleveland Browns outfit, get some use out of her adorable Halloween costume, and because who wouldn’t want some new cute pictures of this little cutie!!?  I love fall and how the colors pop, and how beautiful her blue eyes are!!  She is such a happy baby and is so easy to photograph!!  ImageImageImageImageImageImageImageImage
