I never take high quality photos of my daughter. Two reasons but not good excuses! First is because I always have my Iphone and have over 2k pictures on it maxing out my memory and more on my computer, and 2 because getting the kid ready, preparing for the shoot, being the photographer and mom, at the same time is tough! It took me hours to prep, plan, get her ready, set up at the studio, and then try to shoot technically, get her to pay attention to me and smile. Most would say well she is probably used to you having the camera in her face all the time. Yes and no. She is, but also runs away from me most of the time. Most of my photos I have of her are crazy action shots, but I love every single one because they are candid and really show her goofy self. She is hilarious and I would must rather have her silly faces than a forced smile any day! But I love this attempt at her first “official” photo session! I think she will have many more to come, but I also can’t wait til the weather warms up and we can go outside and I can capture her having fun and doing everything that she loves!! She is becoming a girly princess and wears skirts and crowns everywhere but still loves dirt and worms! 🙂
I love this little guy like he is my own! He is the sweetest, funniest, cutest little boy I know!!! I have known him since he was in the making and can’t believe is he gonna be 3! Side note he is taken lol!! By my 2 1/2 year old daughter!!! Hehehe!! So his mom and I planned a day just for him!! Take him down to the studio! Photograph his beautiful little face… write out his favorite things and have him pose with it… dress him in his Superman cape and mask and boots and underwear with a fan blowing his cape! I got him a little John Deere hat for his birthday because he loves his diggers and bobcats that his daddy uses!! So we get there and he’s excited!! I show him my studio and I start photographing him! After about 10 minutes his attention is not on the task!! What 3 year old wants to sit there and do what his mom and I are telling him to do!! The chalkboard…well that’s fun!! Even more fun for him to erase it over and over and want to chalk on it!! So funny!! We were trying so hard to just have him hold it and look at us! The one picture I did get that it wasn’t erased ended up being something I love! Candid and him looking down at it! I got some great shots of him laughing and making silly faces at me!! Its funny how you try so hard.. and I have to go back and remind myself that he’s 3! If I force him into doing something he doesn’t want to do… then it is no longer fun for him!! And besides some pics for mom, that’s what is all about!! After the day was over we were like well that didn’t go as planned… but as I look at the pictures more and more I love every single one of them more and more!!!! Each one shows exactly his personality!! Cute, funny, smart, and a little stinker!! And I love each picture and him so much!! So you will notice there are not any cape and Superman pics…. He wouldn’t put the cape on! We got him to somehow put the rainboots, socks and underwear on! While coaxing him into putting the cape on and showing him how cool the fan was going to be…he kicked his boots off, tore his socks off, and next thing we know… his underwear are off too!! I couldn’t take a picture because I was laughing soooo hard!!! Think we pushed it a little too far and he just didn’t want anything to do with it!! Gotta say that’s one photographic moment that’s going to go down in the books as the most entertaining of my career!!
Hi everyone!! 2012 was an amazing year!! I am doing some restructuring and a little bit of formalities as to be able to provide a better experience for you! My goal is to provide something special, high quality, professional, fun, affordable, and something that will leave an impression and last a lifetime!
All sessions (child, family, engagement, maternity, etc) will be one standard price $125 (with the exception of newborns as more time is needed and of course weddings or events) The session price will include some prints (2 8×10 and 3 5×7) and an online private viewing gallery of all images! Session times will be 60-90 min in studio, or can be at an outdoor location!
All clients will receive a welcoming packet explaining all of the details and about me as your photographer! :). I like to get to know my clients and would like you to know about me as well!! I want to make your experience as fun as possible and provide a service that will have you return as a client or to refer me is the best compliment I could ask for!
A $50 Deposit that is applied toward session fee will be required to hold all session dates as well as a signed contract before session!
I feel that there are two different needs to be met with clients. The digital vs print. I have printed images from cvs, Walgreens, and a pro printing lab. I would like to show the differences in printing and show you that it can be done at a reasonable price, but the difference in high quality images is important. You are paying for experience, professionalism and high quality, and images less than that defeat what you are coming to me for. My objective is not to make money off of you, but to provide you with a fun, professional experience with a high quality standard. You can select and purchase through me the quantity of images that you would like. I will not be making a package or rates or a minimum purchase order. I want things that will be affordable and to meet your individual needs. Prices will be a la cart. $2- 4×6 $4 5×7 $8 8×10 $12-11×14. We can also discuss fun options of larger prints, canvases, metal and wood prints, photo books etc! Explore new ideas, and customize photos for your home!!
Cd’s still can be purchased for $100 with all images and a printing release. I like to provide a lot of images and will edit every usable photo from the session. With the digital age we live in if you would like to have the disk for your computer, digital photo frame, facebook or anything else that is great! You can also have the printing release with it being known that I can not be responsible for the quality of the images you print, but you are more than welcome to print with it wherever you would like! :). I would prefer to have my work represented in the best way, and I also want to be able to meet your needs or wishes!! These disks can be great for birthday invitations, birth announcements, calendars, thank you cards, holiday greetings etc!
With all of this I want to express how much I really love what I do! I love meeting new people!! Watching kids laugh and being able to capture that! Seeing a baby grow up before my eyes and camera, and getting to be a part of it every few months!! Seeing their parents faces light up when they see their child’s or families portraits!! I strive to capture the moments and feelings of a couple in love, or have them remember the moment when they look back years from now. I love each experience and moment I get to be a part of! I want to offer more to people and have something that you can’t just find anywhere!
Thanks and hope to see you in 2013!
Throughout all the hustle and bustle of the holidays I forgot to post the two most special little Christmas angels!! One in the little car with the cutest smile and fun idea for her mommy and daddy’s Christmas card is my niece!! She is so beautiful! Loves to smile and the camera… But she was not having my new studio downtown!! We ended up taking her little coupe car outside and I like it even better!! The other angel is mine!! Gosh I love her little face!! So angelic!! I swear though I take out my iPhone and the kid hams it up!! Smiles all day long and tells me to take her picture! I plan something and set it up and take out my big expensive camera and she either freezes or doesn’t want anything to do with it!! You would think being a photographer I would have tons of pictures of her…. But if it wasn’t for my trusty iPhone which literally has over 2k pics in it, I wouldn’t have any!! I love this sweet picture of her for my Christmas card though!! 🙂
This my first all day solo wedding. I knew what to expect and prepared myself with tons of batteries and sd cards and comfortable shoes. Even with all the preparing I was still surprised with how much work and how exhausted I was at the end of the day. I left my house around 10 am and went to the brides sisters house. Did an emergency run in between getting ready shots for needle and thread for a ripped bridesmaid dress zipper. Ran off to the church. Then the venue with bridal party pictures outside. Then the reception and i made sure to photograph all of the introductions, the dances, cake cutting, speeches, etc. My goal of the day was to capture every moment, every exchange and greeting, to try and have a picture of every guest and moment. To try and tell a story from beginning to end. After almost 12 hours and close to 1,000 pictures I think I accomplished this. I had a great time and even got teary eyed during the speeches and dances. Weddings can be a beautiful thing. It is amazing to watch the bride and groom and them surrounded by all of their loved ones. I was so nervous the entire day and doing it alone I was worried my camera wasn’t going to hold up or something. Next time I will be sure to have a backup camera and possibly an assistant or second shooter. The reception is easier with more candid shots and less formality. Those moments are my favorite to watch and capture. I try to capture photos that when they look back at them in a month, a year, or ten years they not only smile but can remember exactly what they were feeling at that moment. A picture should be more than a snapshot. They say it should be worth a thousand words. It should also bring back memories and recreate a feeling. The formal church pictures is something that is newer to me. I’m more nervous about the lighting, positioning everyone, messing up a particular shot etc. It is something that hopefully after a few more under my belt my nerves will settle down. I was truly honored and it means a lot when someone asks you to be the one to capture their perfect wedding day moments. The bride was very laid back and wanted candid vintage looking shots as her style. I hope I delivered and I know she has a ton of photos to look back on and remember her day with her husband, daughter, and family and friends. Here are just a few from her day!
I love meeting new clients! I used to be so shy and now I feel as though I could talk to anyone! I also love taking photographs for the first time for a family!!! Most haven’t had a photographer since their wedding and its so nice to be able to capture their family and little one!! Dylan was a ham! Smiling and loved having his picture taken!! He was such a sweet boy and his parents were amazing! I am so glad that I was able to do some holiday portraits for them. I even did just some different non holiday themed shots for the parents so they would have some other photographs for their home! Grandma came too and we got some pictures of her with her daughter and grandson! I can’t tell u how nice it is to have an extra family member there. Not only to capture but also as my helper!! :-). When photographing the family she can stand behind me and make them all smile! I need to start paying the grandmas lol! I hope to see them all in the future again!
Grace potter is a must see live! Not only is her music fun and energetic but she lights up a stage! I have only heard a couple of her songs and was expecting a more mellow show… Boy was I wrong! She didn’t stop moving the entire show! (Hard from a photographers standpoint :-). She was so fun to watch and when you are paying to see a concert it is so nice to see an artist that shows she has talent and more importantly she loves what he does! She’s a breath of fresh air between country and rock and put on a great show!!
Yay! I finally took some friends away from jcpenny portraits! I mean nothing against them… But I like to think that I offer something you can’t find there!! I now have this amazing studio to work at, great lighting, I can set up whatever ideas I would like, have fun, and most importantly take the time needed, and make the kids comfortable. 1 1/2 and 3 can be hard individually but also shooting together! It can either be good, bad, great, terrible, etc! It’s all about the kids and their mood! It went wonderfully and they are so beautiful! They look just like their mommy and daddy! She called me after and said Shannon, I have never been able to get pictures of both of my kids smiling! I was so happy with the pictures and knew what it meant to them. Little things like that make me so happy and makes me feel good that I am able to offer people something they can’t always get somewhere else! I was able to capture both kids smiles and personalities, Portraits, and my favorite is candid parent and child shots! Knowing they will have these gorgeous pictures of their kids for their house and that she is giving as Christmas gifts makes me smile! I love my job!! I put everything I have into it and the way I feel successful is when someone loves their pictures!
